Outercourse

Kissing, cuddling, spooning and other physical forms of intimacy minus sexual penetration are a few examples. For some people, outercourse is an alternative in enjoying sexual pleasure without the burden of unplanned pregnancies. Outercourse could be the solution to people who are thinking of birth control. Some people categorize anal sex, masturbation and oral sex as variations of outercourse since there is no actual sexual contact and no risk of sperm travelling the vaginal canal is present. Other people also term outercourse as “dry humping”. This suggests that a man and a woman can still reach orgasms, and the man may also result to ejaculation but his genitals never entered the female.

There are situations why people resort to outercourse. It could be factors like religion, medical conditions or alternative sexual preferences.

Sexual play

In outercourse, males and females should prepare other backup contraception such as barrier methods in case self-restraint weakens and sexual play gets a bit heated. Outercourse, also known as non-penetrative sex, can include the following: axillary intercourse, erotic massage, fingering, handjobs, footjobs, mammary intercourse, oral stimulation of nipples, and even virtual sex.

Axillary sex is a type of outercourse where the male partner rubs his genitals in between the partner’s armpits. Erotic massage includes the rubbing of the body with or without essential oils. Fingering is the stimulation of the vagina and/or anus. While a handjob and footjob stimulates the male’s organ with the hand and feet, respectively. Mammary intercourse involves the use of the woman’s breasts to rub the male’s organ. Lastly, virtual sex is the sexual acts done when people are communicating through online means and usually at a distance.

As a behavioral method, it is an effective birth control option, but self-discipline and self-control should be in place to prevent actual sexual intercourse from happening. As with any birth control method, it may prevent pregnancies but it does not prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Generally, oral and anal sex do not risk the female in getting pregnant but the possibility of spreading STDs can still happen.
