Coitus Interruptus
Coitus interruptus, popularly known as the Withdrawal method, is a very emotionally and physically straining practice. Although many people still use this method as contraception, the effectiveness does not promise 100% results for birth control. Additionally, it creates a relationship strain since orgasms might be jilted for both partners, and thus, decreasing the pleasures of sexual intimacy. For medical experts, coitus interruptus or the withdrawal is not a form of birth control or STD prevention.

Withdrawal method
Many people assume that just because males ejaculate outside the vagina, sperm cannot swim towards the ovum. Although true, ejaculating outside does prevent the sperm from impregnating the egg. However, there are greater chances of sperm leaking out even before the ejaculation of the male. While inside the female body, the penis can give out pre-ejaculatory fluids that already contain viable sperm. Even in small amounts, these sperm can travel towards the uterus, into the fallopian tubes and finally into the ovulated egg. This can happen even before the male’s actual ejaculation. Hence, unplanned pregnancies happen because of this pre-ejaculation.
Additionally, sperm can live within the female’s body 24-48 hours after sexual intercourse. So, the chances of having a fertilized egg will depend on the life span of the sperm within the female.
Coitus interruptus may be the easiest option especially when there are no other contraceptive methods are available. But, the effectiveness does not assure that the female one hundred percent. Moreover, coitus interruptus does not promise the prevention of sexually transmitted disease transmission. If the partners do not use a condom, then the possibility of such spread is very great.
